I have no personal story, but have heard that students are simply being taught to 'take the test' and are not using classroom time to actually learn what they will need to apply the knowledge or skill in real life. Many of the test questions and answers have been memorized and not learned. Without learning there will be no retention - without retention the time was wasted.

In my most recent experience of raising my grandson who graduated in 2008, I determined that all the schools teach is "how to pass the test", repeatedly reviewing testing materials rather than basic life skill education curriculum. There is so much stress put on the students and teachers to pass these tests that the real education process has gone by the wayside. Public Schools are becoming les and less effective in educating students to reading, writing, math, science and technology by putting so much emphasis on standardized testing.
